HOW TO SEE THE DOCTOR OR NURSE

It is necessary to have a prior appointment to see the Doctor or Nurse or any health care professionals. The appointment system is designed to reduce your waiting time and to ensure that each patient receives adequate consulting time. Appointment time is usually between 9.00am until 12 noon and 3.00pm until 6.00pm in the evening.

GENERAL APPOINTMENT

General appointments can be made in person or by telephone during surgery opening hours to see the doctor, nurse or other member of our clinical team.

The normal appointment is for 10 minutes between 9.00am and 12 noon and between 3.00pm and 6.00pm in the evening. This can be changed at short notice according to other engagement of clinicians.

Please remember that one appointment is for one person only and the doctor can deal with your one problem only in a proper way within the available time. If you have multiple problems, please make another appointment or book a double appointment. In the same way, please book separate appointments for each member of your family if they need to be seen by the doctor, Nurse or any health care professionals.

URGENT APPOINTMENTS

If you require an appointment for a problem that you feel will not wait until the next available routine appointment, you will be given a time to attend – usually at the end of morning surgery or at the beginning of afternoon surgery. You may not be able to see the doctor of your choice and may also have to wait longer than usual. If the doctor is not free, you will be offered an appointment with the Nurse

ACCESS TO A RECEPTIONIST

Patients can visit the surgery and speak to one of the team of receptionists at any time during surgery opening hours. Patients can also contact the receptionist by telephone at any time during this period.

Surgery is closed every day between 1.00pm and 2.00pm, but patients can contact the practice staff during this period by telephone.

Between 8am and 9.00am patients can speak to a receptionist of Out of Hours Services (Primecare) who will take the message for the surgery.
